This support article provides clear information on the Deduction Methods made available in the dropdown lists of PAGIBIG and SSS in myHR.

Deduction Methods

  • Based on Bracket - based on salary bracket as mandated by the government agency and will be deducted in full in 1 cut-off.
  • Based on Tagged Paycodes - based on what's been set up on the pay codes; dependent on the configuration per statutory; if the employee's salary has the capacity to pay the full amount, then the full amount will be deducted.
  • Based on Tagged Paycode (Half/Half) - based on salary bracket as mandated by the government agency; if the employee's salary has the capacity to pay the full amount, instead of deducting the full amount, it is halved into two payouts (current and the next).
  • Based on Monthly Rate (Deduct All) - this is applicable on PHIC contributions

A sample scenario is an employee has a salary or total income subject to SSS of Php 10,000.
The income salary bracket of Php 10,000 has an equivalent of Php 450 in the SSS table.

In the Half/Half setup, the deduction for this current payroll is only Php 225, even if the employee's salary can cover the full amount. The other half, Php 225, will be deducted from the next payroll.

This is not the recommended setup if the employee does not have income on the next payroll because it will result in failure to deduct the other half or a negative net pay - and that is a huge no-no if the employee has not resigned yet.

System design is 1st half payroll - deduct 1st half of the statutory; then 2nd half payroll - deduct remaining due (not necessary half due to the existence of our Month-to-date computation).
